Webmail Spy Frequently Asked
Questions
The following questions are the most
common questions the support team receives regarding Webmail Spy.
1. What is WebMail Spy?
WebMail Spy is a unique, one of a
kind application that will discretely record all web-based e-mail
viewed on your computer. Whenever someone accesses their e-mail,
WebMail Spy will save a copy of their e-mail for you to view at
a later time. WebMail Spy also comes equipped with an Auto Flagging
feature for flagging potentially inappropriate e-mail's, an optimal
stealth mode, customizable security options, and more!
2. I run WebMail Spy, but nothing
happens. What's wrong?
If you run the webmailspy.exe module,
and find that no program executes, it is VERY likely that you have
configured WebMail Spy to run in total stealth mode. To take WebMail
Spy out of stealth mode, you will need to simultaneously press the
correct key sequence. If you do not remember this key sequence,
please contact the support department.
3. Once WebMail Spy is actively
monitoring e-mail, who has access to it?
Once WebMail Spy is actively monitoring
web-based e-mail, only you have the power to stop it from monitoring.
Because WebMail Spy requires a password to start/stop the monitoring
process, no one will be able to start or stop WebMail Spy at their
leisure - unless you give out your personalized WebMail Spy password
to another user.
Note: If WebMail Spy is running in
stealth mode, only you will be able to access it, as it will be
completely hidden. To take WebMail Spy out of stealth mode, you
will need to use the appropriate key sequence.
4. I can not rename WebMailSpy.exe!
What is wrong?
This simply means that you cannot
rename webmailspy.exe because it is running already on your machine.
To stop WebMail Spy from running, you will have to manually close
it. To do this, simply end the monitoring process and hit the "Exit"
button on the main WebMail Spy interface window. Once you have closed
WebMail Spy, you can freely rename the webmailspy.exe module without
receiving any errors!
5. What Operating Systems is WebMail
Spy compatible with?
SpyBuddy will work across all Windows
platforms. This includes Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP!
6. WebMail Spy is NOT recording
e-mail's - what's wrong?
There are a number of reasons why
WebMail Spy may not be recording e-mail's. First and foremost, ensure
that you have the latest version of the WebMail Spy client database.
You can check to see if you have the latest version by clicking
the "AutoUpdate" button on the main WebMail Spy interface.
It is important to keep your database up-to-date, as web-based e-mail
services are rapidly changing, and in order to keep them supported,
you need to have the most current database.
If, after updating the database,
WebMail Spy is still not recording e-mail's, check the browser you
are using. WebMail Spy only currently supporter Internet Explorer
and America Online's internal web browser. If you are using Netscape
or Opera, or any other non-supported browser, the e-mail's will
NOT be recorded.
Finally, double check that you have
indeed started the WebMail Spy monitoring process. If you have not
clicked the "Start WebMail Spy" button on the main WebMail
Spy interface, e-mail's will NOT be recorded.
7. When I try to view a recorded
Yahoo! Mail message, I am prompted to sign in. Why??
If you are experiencing this problem,
please upgrade your version of WebMail Spy to version 2.0.
8. Does WebMail Spy record America
Online e-mail?
Yes! WebMail Spy 2.0 supporting recording
of all e-mail viewed on America Online. This includes all the webmail
clients iin the WebMail Spy database, as well as America Online's
proprietary e-mail.
